Every year for the last 17 years, Travel + Leisure has polled its readers for the locations that represent the very best in travel for the magazine’s World’s Best Awards. In 2012, Santa Fe is included for the 11th consecutive time as a top-10 favorite for U.S. and Canadian travel destinations.

Clearly, the city is an enduring favorite with the publication’s large group of sophisticated and passionate travelers. This year, Santa Fe is ranked as the sixth most popular travel city in North America by the magazine’s travel-savvy readers, an email stated.

In the 2012 poll, for the first time, the magazine created a Hall of Fame recognition for the 97 destinations, resorts, and hotels that have been included as winners for a decade. Santa Fe is now in the T+L Hall of Fame.

“The continuing attention Santa Fe receives as an outstanding travel town is a credit to the Santa Fe Convention & Visitors Bureau, our entire hospitality industry, and the city’s many attractions,” Santa Fe Mayor David Coss said in a statement.

For 2012, the top 10 U.S. and Canadian cities in the opinion of T+L readers are: 1. New York; 2. Chicago; 3. San Francisco; 4. Charleston, S.C.; 5. New Orleans; 6. Santa Fe; 7. Vancouver, British Columbia; 8. Savannah, Ga.; 9. Quebec City; 10. Honolulu.

New York was given an overall score of 88.12. Santa Fe received an overall score of 85.04.
